InDesign Advanced

Course Outline

This course considers how to use the advanced features of InDesign CS2 to manipulate text, graphics and pages with greater efficiency.

On Completion of this one day course you will have built on existing skills to be able to create and modify layouts quickly and easily. You will also be able to administer Advanced Styles, manage long documents, and work with XML

By the end of the course, using practical hands-on tuition, you will have an understanding of the following features and techniques:

Administer Advanced Styles - manage style overrides, base one style on another, import and redefine styles
Developing Bezier Paths - draw and edit Bezier Paths, create compound paths, create clipping paths, create type outlines
Adjusting Print Settings - create print presets, preview print output
Controlling Text - create and use anchored objects, flow text and inline graphics, handle text layout, merge data, use quick apply, edit text with story edit
Managing Long Documents - create document sections, create a table of contents, generate an index, creating 'template' files, insert and format footnotes, add and edit hyperlinks
Working with XML - integrate XML into a document, import XML, export XML, integrate XML with tables, create and use a snippet, style mapping of Microsoft
Handling page Elements and Graphics - duplicate items, locate assets using Adobe Bridge, place items from other applications, align, size and transform images, manage libraries
Importing and Exporting Files - Import layered files, exporting layered PDF files with buttons and interactivity

You will benefit from this course if:

You need to know how to use InDesign CS2 to create large documents with sections
You need to know how to create page layouts automatically using XML and data merge features
You need to know how to create a layered PDF

You do not need to know advanced page layout skills but need to know more about digital image manipulation.
No previous knowledge of Photoshop is required but knowledge of the Windows operating system is needed.
